Day to day — You do not treat needing something as embarrassing, which is rarer than it should be. Most people would rather go without than ask twice. You ask a third time, and a fair amount of your life arrived on the third ask.

Blind spot — The narrow part is that asking became the only tool on your belt. It went from best option to first option, so you now ask for things you could have handled yourself in ten minutes.

Up close — Every request spends a little of someone’s attention, and you cannot see the balance on that account. You find out it is empty at the moment you actually needed it.

At work — Nobody chases a thing down better than you. Where you stall is anything that needs you to carry it alone for a while before you speak.
